FEBRIFUGOS GROUP OF MEDICINES

General Action: Fever specifics, also acting on blood vessel and heart motor nerves (similar to Angioticos). Strong action on cerebellum, solar plexus, sympathetic nerves, and ganglia. Master remedy against fever. Stimulant effect (accelerated heart/vessel/gland activity in strong doses), sedative in weak doses. Act on “magnetic organs” (liver, gallbladder, spleen), stimulating digestion/assimilation, promoting skin/sweat secretion. Used for periodic/cyclic fevers (climatic diseases, tropical intermittent fever, typhoid, malaria). Used for nerve disorders with exaltation or prostration (insanity) and conditions from “magnetic disturbances” (somnambulism, clairvoyance, convulsions, epilepsy). Two remedies: Febrifugo No. 1 and No. 2 (neurotic remedies).

FEBRIFUGO NO 1

General Action: Fever specific, also acts as a pectoral and angiotic. Sometimes acts like a Scrofoloso and Canceroso. Strong doses restore perspiration, weak doses check excess perspiration. In gouty conditions, excretes uric acid through skin when kidneys are insufficient. Organic remedy for liver, gallbladder, and spleen diseases. Treats vomiting, nausea, constipation, and diabetes. Acts on magnetic/electric disturbances of the nervous system (influence on solar plexus and pineal gland). Used for all kinds of fever, acute/chronic nervous diseases, and nervous pains from sympathetic nervous system disturbances affecting brain/spinal nerves. Effective against malarial fever. Generally used internally in 3rd or 4th dilutions for acute conditions, 2nd or stronger for chronic. Treats nervous heart disorders with accelerated/intermittent pulse, heart fluttering. Treats psychic nervous problems (neurasthenia, hysteria, hypochondria). Treats all kinds of convulsions, St. Vitus’ dance, epilepsy, paralysis, tetanus, and catalepsy.

Medicinal Properties & Uses: Febrifuge, anti-periodic, hypnotic, refrigerant, anodyne, diaphoretic, cholagogue, diuretic, anti-phlogistic, anti-spasmodic, calming.

Influence Upon Organs: Liver, gallbladder, pancreas, ovaries, nerves, brain, heart, stomach, cerebellum, genitals, intestines, kidneys, sympathetic nervous system.

Therapeutics: Acute angina, catalepsy, catarrh, chills, cholera, feverish cold, constipation, diabetes, digestive disorder, diplopia (sympathetic nerve affection), hysterical fainting, all kinds of fever, nervous heart diseases, herpetic diseases, homesickness, hypochondria, hysterical affections, spleen diseases.

Actions of Dilutions:

  • First dilution: Removes constipation in bilious persons, cold in head; increases sluggish liver/sympathetic nerve action.
  • Second and third dilution: Reduces increased liver/spleen/sympathetic nerve action; reduces fever temperature; cures nervous disorders like hysteria; cures liver cirrhosis/congestion, all fevers, hypochondriasis, jaundice, hepatitis, neuralgia, epilepsy, and insomnia.
  • Litre dilution: If fever persists and first dilution is ineffective; cures hair/beard loss due to syphilis.
  • High dilutions: For chronic nervous diseases when lower dilutions cause excitement.

Dry Globules:

  • For catarrh onset: 1 gb dry every hour.
  • For flatulence: 2 gb dry every hour.
  • For dyspepsia: 1 gb + alternate with 1 gb of Verm1.
  • For insomnia: 1 gb of 2nd dilution at bedtime.
  • For functional heart disorder: 1 gb every 2 hours.
  • For hysteria: 1 gb of 2nd dilution every 3 hours.

Massive Doses:

  • 5-10 gb in half a glass of water for cold, catarrh, chills.
  • 5-10 gb in 3 oz water for influenza.
  • 10 globules every morning as preventive for renal colic.

Lotion: 10 globules of F1 + ½ tsp WE in 2 oz water applied to temples/forehead for quick relief of nervous pain.

FEBRIFUGO NO 2

General Action: Similar to F1, but acts more on the peripheral parts, so mostly used externally. F1 primarily influences liver/gallbladder then spleen; F2 primarily influences spleen then liver/gallbladder. When F1 is internal, F2 can be external. Sometimes F2 is internal for obstinate chronic diseases resisting F1 (e.g., indurations, tumors, spleen/liver diseases, chronic symptoms from malaria/tropical/intermittent fever, quinine abuse).

Medicinal Properties and Uses: Febrifuge, anti-phlogistic, anti-spasmodic, hypnotic, refrigerant, cholagogue.

Influence Upon Organs: Liver, spleen, stomach, pancreas, brain, heart, intestines, kidneys, ovaries, sympathetic nervous system.

Therapeutics: Acute angina, catalepsy, catarrh, chills, cholera, feverish cold, constipation, diabetes, digestive disorder, hysterical fainting, all kinds of fever, nervous heart diseases, hepatic diseases, homesickness, hypochondria, hysterical nervous attack, insomnia, periodic nervous affections, spleen diseases, diplopia (sympathetic nerve affections).

Actions of Dilutions:

  • First dilution: Removes constipation in bilious persons, cold in head; increases sluggish liver/sympathetic nervous system action.
  • Second dilution: Reduces increased liver/spleen/sympathetic nerves action; reduces fever temperature; cures nervous disorders like hysteria; cures liver cirrhosis/congestion, all fevers, hypochondriasis, jaundice, hepatitis, neuralgia, epilepsy, and insomnia.
  • Litre dilution: If fever continues to rise and first dilution is ineffective; cures hair/beard loss due to syphilis.
  • High dilution: Used for chronic nervous diseases when lower dilutions produce excitement.

Compress: For fevers, liver/spleen disorders, F2 applied to the hypochondriac region; used in bronchitis, gallstones, dyspepsia, and cholera.

Baths: Fevers, sunstroke, convulsion.
